What we believe

(a)       The Divine inspiration and infallibility of the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as originally given and their supreme authority in matters of faith and practice, yet understanding that Scripture belongs to God and that He ministers it to us by His Holy Spirit. 2 Tim 3:16

(b)       The unity of the Godhead and the Divine co-equality of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. .

(c)        All people are sinners in need of salvation. Rom 3:23

(d)       Jesus Christ is the Son of God; God revealed in human flesh.  He was crucified, died and was buried.  He rose from the dead on the third day and ascended into Heaven.  By His death on the cross He made full atonement for sin.  This atonement is the only ground for salvation, and is sufficient for all people.  He is our great High Priest.

(e)       The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, regenerates, and empowers the believer to live a Christ- like life.

(f)        The necessity of repentance towards God, and of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in order to be saved.  Acts 3:19

(g)       The personal return and reign of our Lord Jesus Christ and the final judgement of all men.  Acts 1:9-11

(h)       The bodily resurrection of the dead; the believer receiving fullness of joy and glory in the Lord’s presence and the unbeliever entering a state of eternal suffering through being separated from God and all that is good.

(i)        The Divine institution and perpetual obligation of the Church to observe the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.  Christian baptism is for believers only and is by immersion in water, thus symbolising the fellowship of believers in their Lord’s death, burial and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial of the sacrifice of the body and the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

(j)        The Headship of Christ over the local Church.

As a member church of the Queensland Baptist family of Churches, more information about what we believe can be found here.
