Ian commenced at GBC in 2016 and says he is “thrilled and humbled to be Senior Pastor of such a great church”. He married his wife Cathy in late 2001 after both being widowed and despite the comments, their family is not the Brady Bunch – problems are not solved in 30 minutes. They share 6 wonderful men and, thus far, one beautiful daughter in law, who live all over Australia.
Ian enjoys a good book and a strong flat white coffee. He and Cathy have walked in Jesus’ footprints in Israel and in Paul’s in Athens and Turkey and they have a deep interest in the work of Compassion in the Philippines, as they personally partner with a church and village there.
Ian is energised by the Gospel of Jesus and by seeing others become more like Jesus and living out their faith.
Associate Pastor – Pastoral Care
Alison has worked at Gladstone Baptist Church since May 2003 as Church Administrator, serving on the Church Board as Pastoral Assistant for Women’s Ministry and later as Associate Pastor for Pastoral Care.
Encouraged by the senior pastor of that time, Alison applied for registration as a Pastor with Qld Baptists and was commissioned in 2012. She continues to split her hours at work between administration and pastoral care.
Her passions are prayer, pastoral care and her five grandchildren.
She loves her job and particularly enjoys partnering with her husband David as they both endeavour to serve on the Pastoral care team, pastorally caring for the Church family and Gladstone community.
Associate Pastor – Youth & Young Adults
Born and bred in North Queensland Chris and his wife Sarah have been married 15 years. Chris has been a Chaplain and District Coordinator for SUQLD. Chris & Sarah have attended and directed various youth camps over the years which have involved water skiing, remote camping and some very challenging gospel messages.
Chris and Sarah have 3 children. In late 2018 Chris was called to be an Associate Pastor (youth and young adults) at Gladstone Baptist Church. What Chris brings to the team is a passion to see young people’s lives changed through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
“I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to serve the people of GBC and the staff and students at Trinity College”. Chris will also be working in the role of College Pastor at Trinity College and sees this as an ideal opportunity to engage with the families of the College. “A big part of applying for and accepting this position is based around the opportunity I have to speak into the lives of the students in the school on a regular basis”.
Chris has always been into outdoor adventure playing multiple sports socially and competitively however these days has scaled back the time he spends doing these activities. “My family love the beach so we spend a lot of our holidays there’”.
Over the next 5 years Chris hopes to continue working toward a Bachelor of Ministry, build a sustainable youth ministry and build a close working relationship with the staff, teachers, students and families of Trinity Christian College.
