What to Expect

A TYPICAL GBC SERVICE

A GBC service is usually 60-75 minutes, with four parts:

Worship - together we sing praise and worship songs to God. During this time most people stand, however feel free to sit if you prefer. We will have the words up on the screen for you to follow along with. (approx 20-30 minutes)

Announcements - we share information about a few important things that are going on in the church. A pastor will pray at this time. (approx 5 minutes)

Kids Spot - we invite the children down the front for a song and a brief message (approx 5-10 minutes)

Sermon - one of the Pastoral Team or guest speakers will share a message from the Bible. (approx 20-30 minutes)

Close - we finish the service with a final song of reflection and prayer to close. After the 9:30am service there will be Morning Tea and Coffee and the opportunity to catch up with others who are at the service.

WHAT TO WEAR

There is no dress code at GBC. Whether it is high-vis, casual or formal wear, you are welcome to join us wearing whatever you are most comfortable in.

CAR PARKING

There is plenty of room to park on-site at GBC, and there won't be too far to walk either.

WHAT TIME TO COME

Our services always start within a few minutes of the designated service times, but don't worry if you're running late. You will be entering through the doors at the back of the room, and if our seating is getting full someone on our Welcome Team will help you find a spot. If you are coming with other people we will help you sit together.

WHERE TO GO

Our services are held in the large building that has the drive through drop-off. Once you have found a park, enter through the foyer doors in the drive-through area and you will be greeted by our welcoming team.

WELCOME TEAM

As you enter through the foyer our Welcome Team will greet you with friendly smiles. They will have a Welcome Pack to give you that contains much of the more detailed information you might want to know about GBC. This team will be happy to show you around, and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

KIDS IN CHURCH

We value the participation of children in our main service, and have a Kids Song and Kids Spot to engage them directly. If your children would like to join in our Sunday morning kids activities, they are invited to follow the leaders out to Kids Space or Creche after the Kids Spot (during the school term).

Otherwise your children are very welcome to stay for the main service.
Our facilities are pram accessible, and there is plenty of room at the back of the auditorium where you can supervise your kids playing during the service. We have a Parents Room at the back where you can take your young children and still hear the service. Baby change facilities are also available.

GIVING

There is no obligation to give anything when attending a service at GBC. If you wish to give, you can place physical gifts in the locked box beside the church office window, or you can give electronically.

COMMUNION

One Sunday a month we share communion together during the service. Communion is a way we remember and celebrate the new life we have through the death and resurrection of Jesus. We eat a small piece of bread/gluten free cracker and drink small cups of grape juice which symbolise the body and blood of Jesus. Anyone of any age who loves Jesus is welcome to share in communion with us. On communion Sundays you will be invited to take a prepackaged communion from various tables around the auditorium. If you don't wish to join in communion, please feel free to enjoy a quiet, personal moment during this part of the service.

GET CONNECTED

If you'd like to meet people and get connected with GBC you can fill out one of our 'Get Connected' cards and give it to one of the Welcome Team so one of our Pastoral Team can contact you during the week and chat about connecting at GBC. We also have Morning tea and Espresso coffee after the morning service and this is a great time to meet and connect with people.

UNFAMILIAR WITH CHURCH

At GBC, church is not about a religious ceremony where we tick off a list of things that we have to do. We come to church to connect with God and other people - we're just like a big family hanging out together for a few hours on a Sunday - and we'd love to welcome you into our church family as well. Sometimes we may say and do things in our services that are unfamiliar to you. We don't want you to feel uncomfortable or excluded, so if there is anything you don't understand or want to ask questions about, you are very welcome to talk with someone on our Welcome Team or contact one of our Pastors.
